Why Central Air Conditioners Remains the Best Choice

Central air conditioners circulate cool air via a system of supply and return ducts. The ducts pass cool air from the air conditioner throughout the house and as the air gets warmer on circulating inside the house, return ducts carry the warmer air back to the central air conditioner for cooling.Air Conditioners

If you plan to install central air conditioning in your house, consider the following factors.

  1. Consider buying a model that has a higher efficiency level. These air conditioners have Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) ratings that make it easy to identify their efficiency rates. SEER ratings denote the quantum of energy needed to provide a specific cooling output. A SEER rating of 13 or more indicates higher efficiency levels.
  2. Look for air conditioners with the Energy Star logo on them. These testify to the enhanced efficiency levels of the air conditioner.
  3. The option of operating only the fan so that the unit can operate as a ventilating unit as well, thereby reducing your consumption of power.
  4. A filter indicator that can remind you to check the filter for cleaning, periodically.
  5. When operational, the level of noise must be low.
  6. A fan speed controller that allows you to set the speed of the fan unit as needed.

Central AC units provide higher levels of efficiency as compared to room air conditioners. Plus, they usually operate without any noise. Unlike room air conditioners, they remain concealed (behind the scenes) and they are easy to operate. However, they require a lot of time and effort upfront in terms of creating vents in the walls etc.
